- The Library at Box Hill School
The Box Hill School Library area comprises of three rooms, each with a distinct atmosphere and function.
The newly refurbished modern Library contains over 6000 resources including books, journals and multimedia. Laptops may be borrowed within the Library and used via wireless connection. There are also photocopying facilities.
The traditional Reading Room houses an extensive fiction collection. Newspapers and journals can be read at leisure in this homely ambience.
The LRC facility provides access to 20 computers, all fully networked. This room is also used for class teaching.
All items in the Library plus many in departmental libraries are recorded on Access-It, the Library Catalogue, available over the intranet. Resources may be borrowed or reserved and reviews can be written. Book records have useful weblinks added by the Library staff so subject information can be retrieved even if the Library is closed.
Specialist online databases (some containing full text ebooks and journals in different languages) are available via the intranet. Students are also registered with Surrey Public Libraries and through this membership have access to further online resources and downloadable ebooks and audio books.
The Library is staffed by a Chartered Librarian and an assistant to help answer any questions and to aid research. The Library is open during term time Monday, Thursday 8.30am – 9pm, Tuesday, Wednesday 8.30am – 7.30pm, Friday 8.30am – 5.00pm and on Saturdays from 10.00 to noon.
